I had been following the "Amphion Beautiful" thread, when a pair of One15's came up locally second hand. Ive used them with an Adam Sub 7 at times to try to improve the situation, but prefered them without a sub. However, I still had issues mixing the low end on these and occasionally my tracks would end up in the unfinished pile as I just couldn't make the right decisions to get the tracks sounding right. The bass response is much flatter and they go a bit deeper too. They are in the lounge room now, where the bass lump provides a little more wight than would otherwise be there at the low listening levels I usually have. Unfortunately the little DB1s have quite a lump in their frequency response around 100hz which made it difficult to make decisions mixing bass. The PMC DB1's fixed that problem, having a more detailed mid range.

In hindsight I should have kept them for the loungroom as they are great playback speakers for non-critical use. They sounded nice to mix on, but I had difficulty mixing the mid range. I found the BM6's lacking in mid range detail, with a pleasant scooped EQ. Prior to the Neumanns I was running a pair of PMCDB1s, and before that a pair of Dynaudio BM6 mki passives.

Ive found them great value for money and good quality. I have owned the KH120's for about 5 years. I have had some problems on translating the mixes so maybe these can give some extra edge on that. Older 60's music sounds great as well as new stuff.Ĭant wait to get mixing stuff with these. Starting to hear new things in records that i have heard million times on different kinds of sets. I was looking transparency and clarity for those. These also brings out the sound of the bass more clearly. I like smooth bass sounds and these are way more accurate on bass note's attacks and releases than Truths. But I was thinking that I'll trade the deep bass end for accuracy (in small space that i have) and I think these can really deliver that. Bass is also nice but like many have pointed out doesnt go that low. Really transparent, accurate and natural sounding monitors. For the first i was a bit unsure if these really were worth of extra money but after couple of hours really starting to like them. Just bought these to replace my years old Truth b2031.
